1,000 sites and counting: Redhead Labs builds thriving agency through BigCommerce partnership
When design and marketing firm Redhead Labs was founded in 2006, the agency found early success planning events and designing Joomla- or Drupal-based websites for companies and entertainers in the Branson, Missouri area. But when Redhead got the opportunity to create an ecommerce store for a skincare line, Founder Rosanne Schaefer recognized the opportunity to expand the fledgling agency’s web design offering from informational sites to ecommerce shops. She knew they’d need the right ecommerce platform partner to make this transition a smooth and successful one.
Schaefer wanted to find an ecommerce platform that would be customizable, stable, current and secure enough to fit the needs of a diverse clientele. In addition, the platform needed to be user friendly enough that it could be managed by Redhead’s merchant clients, who had little or no technical expertise.
After looking into Joomla and Magento, Schaefer decided BigCommerce would offer the best combination
of functionality and manageability. As a bonus, the personal service provided by BigCommerce’s partner representatives convinced her that this was not only the right platform, but the right team to help Redhead grow its ecommerce design business. Redhead became one of BigCommerce’s first official partners.
“BigCommerce is a stable platform, but is also constantly upgraded to stay current, which our larger enterprise clients love,” said Schaefer. “Our smaller clients appreciate being able to make changes themselves with ease, and they feel secure using the platform. BigCommerce makes it really easy to achieve whatever our clients want.”
Redhead has seen company growth of nearly 700% since first partnering with BigCommerce. They exclusively used BigCommerce to build more than 1,000 online stores, and love the simplicity and ease of using one platform to fulfill all of their needs.
“We have seen an increase in profitability since day one with BigCommerce,” Schaefer said. “They have supported all of our changing needs through the years. No matter what client we are working with or what needs they may have, I can always show them why BigCommerce is the right choice for getting them what they want from their online business.”
Be A Part Of (BAPO) grows 400% with
Be A Part Of (BAPO) launched as an ecommerce strategy and design company in 2004 based on the idea that everyone needs a website. But running a small team of three, BAPO’s Founder and Managing Director Greg Johnston recognized that having a platform partner would help his company grow more quickly and offer more support.
For BAPO, customer support and flexibility were of the utmost importance when choosing an ecommerce platform partner. Having a partner support team that would be able to fully support their clients was key in enabling BAPO to focus on growth. At the same time, BAPO needed a platform that would offer a good balance of security and customization, along with the functionality to meet the needs of a range of clients.
BAPO recognized BigCommerce offered not only the merchant support it desired, but an ideal blend of security and openness that other platforms did not offer. Once working with BigCommerce, the ability to build out things in virtually any way they envisioned led to BAPO having creative license in other areas of platform development, something few other partners were willing or capable of supporting. BAPO also found BigCommerce’s partner program helped them align with new leads, and the support resources were priceless in terms of freeing up more time for new business development.
“Being a BigCommerce partner has 100% been a part of enabling our huge company growth; without them, I don’t know where we would be,” Johnston said. “Beyond all of the great benefits of the partnership program we receive, it’s really all about getting your clients on the best platform possible. And once the client’s store is up and running, BigCommerce offers such reliable support that we are free to continue to focus on the things that are most important to us.”
epicFlowers builds projected $1.5 million
per year in revenue as BigCommerce
Brandon Kirkland wanted to build a website for the flower shop he and his wife had started, he discovered there weren’t any cutting-edge ecommerce designers catering to the specific needs of florists. He decided to start epicFlowers to meet this need, providing specialized web design and online marketing services for florists across the country. However, before he could get started, he needed to find a platform partner who would enable him to create turnkey templates that could be customized to the needs of individual florists.
epicFlowers had found a good niche, however it needed a platform that would be stable and reliable enough to support a large, national customer base, with minimal support needed from Kirkland. He considered Magento and PrestaShop but recognized that with on-premise platforms, he’d have to spend money hiring a system admin at upwards of $80,000 per year.
With BigCommerce’s less-expensive SaaS solution, he could create templates that could be customized to include not only florists’ individual brands but the features that would be most useful to florists, such as applications that recommend and schedule arrangement delivery times based on items in queue and distance from the store.
After seeing not only the customization possible on BigCommerce, but the support his florist clients would receive, he immediately emailed BigCommerce’s CEO and told him epicFlowers would be one of their top website sellers.
